Catalyst Sciel
Overview
Despite swinging a scythe that makes her look like the Grim Reaper, Sciel isn’t here to reap souls — she’s here to break the game. Built correctly, she is hands-down the best support in Expedition 33. Sciel is the engine behind every devastating party combo, handing out free turns, refilling AP bars, and doubling damage when it matters most. In a three-person team, she is nearly indispensable, and the easiest way to make your run feel smooth is to slot her in with a primary damage dealer. Pair her with Lune, Verso, or Maelle, and she turns them into walking disasters.
While she can be played as a damage dealer, that’s a waste of her potential. Her true strength lies in being the pocket support who enables your hyper carry to deal numbers the game barely seems prepared for. The core of her kit revolves around the Foretell mechanic: stacking marks on enemies, converting those stacks into AP or buffs, and flipping momentum in your favor at will. In Acts 1 and 2, she’ll function as a hybrid who can still throw punches. By Act 3, she transforms into a dedicated support who can make your strongest ally feel like a tactical nuke.
Act 1 & 2
In the early game, AP is tight and Sciel doesn’t yet have access to her most absurd tools. Because of that, we build her into a flexible hybrid who can contribute damage while already supporting. The goal is to learn how to stack Foretell, manage those stacks efficiently, and set up the conditions that let your carry run wild.
Her most important opener is Focused Foretell. It marks enemies with stacks right away, letting you build toward her support abilities immediately. On turn one, that’s often five stacks without much effort, which sets up her next moves.
The second cornerstone is Searing Bond, and this is where synergy kicks in. Searing Bond adds five Foretell stacks to your target and five more to burning enemies. If you’re running Lune or Maelle — who spread fire constantly — you’ll see Foretell stacks fly across the board. In early fights, a Lune Wildfire into Sciel’s Searing Bond will often leave enemies half dead and stacked with marks, which you can then cash out.
That cash-out comes in the form of Plentiful Harvest. It consumes every stack on an enemy and grants 1 AP to an ally for each stack removed. With five stacks, you’re giving your carry five AP for free, effectively refilling their bar. This is one of Sciel’s defining abilities, and even in the earliest acts it completely changes the tempo of combat.
Then comes Intervention, the ability that cements her as the best support in the game. Intervention gives an ally an immediate turn and 4 AP to spend. Used on your carry, it’s already broken. Once you reach Act 3 and pair it with the Cheater Picto, it becomes utterly game-breaking, giving not one but two extra turns.
For filler, Spectral Sweep is useful for stacking Foretell on bulkier enemies, and Sealed Fate serves as her emergency kill button. Sealed Fate consumes stacks for burst damage, letting Sciel step into the role of a damage dealer when a fight drags out.
The early game rotation flows naturally: open with Focused Foretell or Searing Bond depending on whether enemies are burning, use Spectral Sweep to build stacks on durable targets, then either cash out with Plentiful Harvest to fuel your carry or drop Intervention to hand them the spotlight. If the fight somehow drags on, Sealed Fate is her closer. With this loop, Sciel makes her allies shine while still carrying her own weight.

Weapons Overview
Sciel’s weapon choices mirror her transition from hybrid to full support.
Lithosin is the late-game prize. It scales with agility and luck, both excellent stats for her, but its true strength lies in its passives. Depending on the time of day, Lithosin either grants allies greater Rush or slows enemies. In Twilight, both effects apply. On top of that, every time Sciel uses a buff or debuff, she gains 3 AP. Considering her kit revolves almost entirely around buffs and debuffs, this gives her effectively infinite fuel. Lithosin ensures she never runs out of gas and keeps her engine running at full speed.
Terron is her early best-in-slot. It scales with agility and defense, two of her natural stats, and it enhances her Twilight state. The extra turn from entering Twilight can’t be understated in Acts 1 and 2, where every action matters. It also extends Twilight’s duration and adds damage, making her feel sturdier and more useful. Terron isn’t game-breaking, but it’s consistent and reliable until her late-game option comes online.

Pictos Overview
Keep the loop compact and decisive. Walk forward guarding, bait a swing, and perfect parry. Immediately cash the counter to tag the combo finisher, then choose your conversion: takedown if the bar is full, or heavy ender into Clear Out if multiple targets are close. When you sense the tide turning, hit Barbaric Shout first; the shield and stagger convert panic moments into winning positions, and the window it creates makes Clear Out non-negotiable for the next two beats. If the mob is small or you’re tunneling a high-health threat, swap Clear Out for Flurry of Blows and ride the lifesteal to stay planted while the bleeds tick. Always re-cast Arcane Veil before committing to long strings or boss windows; it’s cheap insurance that also keeps your timing greedy without punishment.
Two anchors keep the build honest. First, never swing blindly into red telegraphs—step, parry, and cash the finisher instead. Second, don’t chase whiffs with stamina-draining heavies; reset with a quick step, re-guard, and bait again. The build’s damage comes from advantage, not spam. When it hums, fights read the same: shout to seize tempo, parry to mint a finisher, bleed the pack, and decide which target gets the takedown. That’s the Crimson Warlord—measured, brutal, and always in control.

By Act 3, Sciel sheds her hybrid skin and becomes a pure support monster. Her entire playstyle revolves around making one ally — usually Lune, Verso, or Maelle — into a walking apocalypse.
At this stage, you drop Focused Foretell in favor of Fortune’s Fury. This ability doubles an ally’s damage for one turn. Combined with Intervention, it allows your chosen carry to unleash turns that shred bosses in seconds. For example, Fortune’s Fury on Verso followed by Intervention gives him two turns at double damage, usually enough to erase anything unlucky enough to be standing in front of him.
Her late-game loop becomes beautifully simple:
- Use Fortune’s Fury on your carry.
- Immediately use Intervention to give them the spotlight.
- Sit back and watch bosses evaporate.
Because Lithosin feeds her AP every time she buffs, she can repeat this loop indefinitely. When needed, Searing Bond, Plentiful Harvest, and Spectral Sweep still add Foretell stacks, but by Act 3 her job is less about managing stacks and more about chaining buffs and feeding turns. Sealed Fate remains her personal nuke if you want her to contribute damage directly, though in most fights she won’t need to swing.
Stat-wise, max agility first to boost speed and weapon scaling. After that, luck synergizes with Lithosin, while defense and vitality are more niche — she’s fragile no matter what, so pumping survivability rarely saves her.
With Sciel running Fortune’s Fury and Intervention loops, your carry becomes unstoppable. Lune can one-shot bosses with Lightning Dance, Verso can chain machine-gun free aims into Follow-Ups, and Maelle can melt entire screens with fire combos. Sciel doesn’t just support them — she amplifies them into something unfair.
