Glock Saint Verso
Overview
Verso is one of the flashiest and most rewarding characters in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. His unique Perfection mechanic pushes him to play like a relentless machine gun, chaining free-aim attacks and multi-hit abilities until enemies collapse under the sheer volume of fire. Every landed hit builds his rank higher, from D up to S, with each rank amplifying damage dramatically. At D rank, he’s ordinary. At C, he’s doing 25% more. At B, that doubles to 50%. At A, he’s hitting for 100% bonus, and at S rank he unleashes a staggering 200% increase.
The trade-off is simple: if Verso gets hit, his rank drops. The higher you climb, the more devastating he becomes, but the more punishing it is to lose momentum. That tension is exactly what makes him so exciting — you’re constantly rewarded for staying aggressive and punishing enemies before they have a chance to retaliate.
This build transforms Verso into the Machine-Gun Saint, one of the highest damage dealers in the game. He starts out clunky in Act 2, needing a lot of Lumina investment and careful management to reach his stride. But once the right skills, weapons, and Pictos come together, Act 3 turns him into a god of destruction capable of shredding entire encounters in seconds. He’s demanding, but the payoff is enormous — endless chains of crits, constant breaking, and single-target nukes that rival or surpass every other character.
Act 1 & 2
Verso’s biggest hurdle comes before Act 3. Early on, he takes too long to build Perfection, leaving him lagging behind characters who offer immediate utility or damage. To survive this stage, you’ll need to lean on a few key abilities that let him climb ranks faster and generate enough AP to stay active.
- Paradigm Shift is his starter tool. It doesn’t hit hard, but its triple-hit pattern is perfect for quickly moving him up the ranks while refunding AP. In Act 2, this is your bread-and-butter opener to build momentum.
- Follow-Up is the real gem in his kit, though it only shines later. It stacks damage based on free-aim shots fired beforehand and becomes devastating once you consistently hit S rank. Even in early game, it’s worth keeping, as it scales directly with his defining playstyle.
- Blitz fills an important utility role. Its damage isn’t remarkable, but it grants Verso a second turn, letting him squeeze in an extra shot or skill when he needs it. The small execute effect occasionally finishes enemies but is secondary to the free action.
- Perfect Break accelerates Perfection by skipping ranks if it lands on a breakable target. This is critical for overcoming his clunky early rhythm. It doesn’t deal much damage, but reaching S rank faster is the entire point.
- Endbringer is the closest thing he has to a finisher before late game. Against stunned targets, it hits six times and usually caps out on damage, making it one of his first truly reliable nukes.
The key to playing Verso in the early game is ramping quickly. Start with basic shots and Paradigm Shift to get into B rank, then push to S with Perfect Break. From there, you can decide whether to spend AP on Blitz for extra turns, set up a stacked Follow-Up, or go for Endbringer to delete a priority target. He’s awkward at this stage, but with support characters like Sciel feeding him extra turns, he can stay afloat until his full kit unlocks.

Weapons Overview
Verso’s weapons define his performance almost as much as his abilities. Early game choices are all about stabilizing his Perfection mechanic, while late game gives him one of the most broken tools in the game.
- Dualiso: Grants extra turns and improves basic attacks. Solid for smoothing out early fights, though it scales poorly with his best stats.
- Lancerum: Starts Verso at C rank and prevents him from dropping below it. This is great training wheels if you find yourself losing ranks too often.
- Contoso: The best midgame option. Scales with agility, gives 100% crit chance at S rank, and triggers lightning strikes on hit. It gets him to S rank faster and keeps him there, which is exactly what the build needs.
In Act 3, it’s all about Chevlin. This weapon is absurd. It starts Verso at S rank, doubles his damage output, scales with agility and luck, and grants Rush. It essentially completes the build by letting him begin every fight already maxed out, bypassing his early ramping problem entirely. Samoso is another late option, but since it’s locked behind the hardest boss in the game, most players won’t get it in time to matter. Chevlin is the go-to weapon for this build.

Once Act 3 arrives, Verso finally feels like the monster he was designed to be. At this stage, Paradigm Shift and Blitz fall off — their utility becomes redundant. Instead, he upgrades into tools that keep him permanently aggressive.
- Phantom Stars replaces Paradigm Shift as the new core. It hits hard, costs little at S rank, and applies breaks across groups. It’s your main opener in late fights, setting up Endbringer or clearing waves outright.
- Endbringer remains one of his most reliable finishers. In late game, it pairs perfectly with Phantom Stars: break everything with the stars, then unleash Endbringer to delete the toughest enemy.
- Follow-Up now fully realizes its potential. With Chevlin starting you at S rank and Cheater fueling free turns, you can stack double-digit free-aim shots into a single devastating nuke. This move is capable of some of the highest single-target damage numbers in the game.
- Steel Strike lingers as a flashy alternative. It’s slower and less consistent, but its 13-hit burst can still devastate bosses if you find the right window.
The flow of combat is straightforward but lethal. Open fights already at S rank thanks to Chevlin. Use free-aim shots to mark and burn enemies while generating AP. From there, choose the right finisher: Follow-Up for single targets, Phantom Stars for groups, or Endbringer if a stun or break is available. With Cheater giving you multiple turns in a row, you’ll often be able to chain all three across a single round, wiping entire encounters before enemies can move.
Verso pairs best with Sciel, who provides extra turns and double damage buffs. Lun and Monoco also complement him well in break-heavy setups, but the truth is he doesn’t really need help. With the full build online, Verso becomes a self-sufficient storm of bullets and crits, breaking, burning, and obliterating everything in his path.
